Vaping has really taken off in the last few years as a safer alternative to smoking. Public Health England has stated that vaping is 95% better for you than smoking and the charity Cancer Research UK is supportive of vaping as an alternative to smoking in the fight against cancer. This article will explain the different ways that vaping is better for your health than smoking.
Vaping reduces the risk of cancer
A research study at the University College London in 2017 discovered that when smokers switched to vaping, the levels of cancer-causing toxins in their bodies fell by up to 97% in just six months. This statistic makes vaping as beneficial as nicotine replacement therapies.
The reason for this is simple, E-Cigarettes don’t have the 4000+ chemicals and 50+ carcinogens that cigarettes have. There is a reason that tobacco is the number 1 preventable cause of death in the world after all!
And although we often link cigarettes to lung cancer, all sorts of cancers are caused by smoking. Lung cancer is of course the big one, with CDC saying that smoking causes almost 90% of deaths caused by lung cancer.
Smoking though can dramatically increase your chances of getting cancer of: the mouth and throat, stomach, colon, rectum, liver, pancreas, larynx, trachea, bronchus, kidney and pelvis, bladder, and cervix.
And this increase in cancer doesn’t just apply to smokers either, those around them who are exposed to cigarette smoke (2nd hand smoke) are more likely to develop cancer as well.
That’s why Vaping the University College London said vaping was so much less harmful, as E-cigarettes simply do not have the carcinogens in them like cigarettes do.
And it’s not just this one study, Public Health England (the English independent health agency) also says the same thing, stating the E-cigarettes are at least 95% less harmful than cigarettes.
Vapes use fewer chemicals than cigarettes
E-Cigarettes are much better for than cigarettes because they don’t contain the 50+ carcinogens, but they are also much better because they don’t contain the 4000+ chemicals that are also in tobacco!
There are thousands of chemicals in a cigarettes which don’t give you cancer, but do still hurt you.
To pick out a few examples:
1. Arsenic
Arsenic is a literal poison, and for regular and long-term smokers each drag of a cigarette means a little more is left in your body
At first it isn't too damaging, but over time it can cause damage to your heart and blood vessels. This not only makes it more likely for smokers to have a heart attach, but the breakdown of blood vessels affects the human body's ability to repair itself. This makes smokers more vulnerable to other diseases and health problems.
2. Tar
Although the tar in cigarettes isn't the same chemical that paves roads, it's still terrible to have in your body.
Tar is what stains a smoker's fingers, teeth and everything around a long term smoker with that horrible yellow colour. As it's a sticky substance it will cling to anything it touches, which means someone's doesn't even have to smoke to get it into their system, just touch something that a smoker has been around when they light up.
It does the same to your lungs, clinging to the lung cells (the cilla) and filling them in, slowly killing them. Once the lung cell is dead the tar moves deeper into the lung. Over time tar seeps into the very core of the lungs.
3. Cyanide
Like arsenic this is another poison that can be found in the smoke of every cigarette. It also hurts you like Arsenic does, by weakening a smokers immune system, so bigger dangers like cancer or other diseases can get a foothold.
If these sound bad, bear in mind these are just 3 of THOUSANDS of chemicals that can hurt you in cigarettes!
Vapes are better for your lungs
As we mentioned in the last two sections, there are multiple ways for cigarettes to damage your lungs. Whether it is from the cancer that is much more likely to happed due to smoking, or the tar that is slowly building up, no smoker will have good lungs.
However by far the best way to show this is through a video produced by Public Health England. In the video they show exactly what happens to your lungs when you smoke, and for good measure show what happens when you Vape instead.

Vaping is much cheaper than smoking
Even if you ignore all the health reasons to stop smoking, the money you save along by switching to e-cigarettes are astronomical.
The average smoker of 20 cigarettes a day would spend over £3,000 a year on cigarettes (at an average of around £10.40 per pack of 20 – this varies depending on the brand of cigarette).
Compared to vaping, the difference is huge. One box of E-Cigarette refills, which has over 150 cigarettes worth of nicotine in, and is only £9.99. That is cheaper than a normal pack of cigarettes, and you get OVER 7 TIMES more nicotine!
All in all, with the health benefits and the extra bonus of the money you can save, switching from cigarettes to vaping is a no brainer!
So if you want to try E-Cigarettes for yourself then there has never been a better time. Try our new New SMOKO VAPE POD for just £19.99 and see if you can make the switch!
