5 THINGS TO DO WHILE STUCK AT HOME DURING LOCKDOWN

5 THINGS TO DO WHILE STUCK AT HOME DURING LOCKDOWN

If you're bored with watching TV and are looking for something to keep your mind and body active, we are all in the same boat! We have collected all the best tips that are helping us get through this strange time, and hopefully you will like them too.

Here are the 5 suggestions below that may help!

1. EMBRACE YOUR GREEN FINGERS

We are currently being blessed with some beautiful weather. If you have a garden, make the most of the sun and get yourself weeding, cutting and planting outside.

Of course, this being the UK, the weather can change at any time, so even if you have access to a garden try growing potted plants or flowers from your windowsill. For those without a garden this can be great way to enjoy nature as well. Some flowers and plants are a bit needy, but there are plenty of hardy plants out there that can still add colour to your house or garden.

If you are a cook then there are plenty of herbs and spices that can be grown like basil, coriander or mint. If you have a garden then you can expand into vegetables as well like carrots or lettuce, which can give a nice leafy look and produce great tasting food as well. But if you are going for a more colour than utility then Begonia’s or Sweet peas are great choices. For house plants as they should be relatively warm all year you can choose anything you like, as long as it fits inside!

2. IT'S TIME TO TIDY

How long have you been putting off organising your spare room or downstairs cupboard? Now is the time to tackle any DIY and de-cluttering tasks you have been putting off. Cleaning and tidying can give you a great sense of achievement that many of us are craving during this time.

We all have that drawer that you don’t take anything out of, just add to, and now can be the time to figure out exactly what is in there, and if you need any of it.

Though at the moment we can’t go out, going through your clothes and being ruthless can free up a huge amount of space. Plus the charity shops will happily take them from you when everything opens up again.

Lastly the loft is always there for those who really feel in the mood to tidy and clean, though be cautious as once you start it will difficult to put everything back if you get bored!

3. GET CREATIVE

Many of us are struggling to understand our feelings during the lockdown, as people are experiencing emotions such as worry, sadness and anger all at once. Painting and drawing have long been creative outlets for people to express their emotions, and are great hobbies to practise when you have a lot of time on your hands.

It can feel like a momentous task to start a hobby like this, but there are plenty of tutorials and videos online that can help you start. Comparing your work to others can be the easiest way to feel discouraged, so what can help is if you can get someone else to join you in your hobby. That way you aren’t comparing yourself to people who have been painting for years and can enjoy it together. Even better, you don’t need to do this with someone in your house, you can still practice together while being on the other side of the world.

4. LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

If you are passing your hours in lockdown by dreaming of all the places you want to visit abroad, you could start learning a new language. That way when you finally get on holiday, you'll be talking like a local.

There are many great apps and websites that can help you learn languages, such as DuoLingo and Rosetta Stone.

You might not be fluent overnight, but anyone can pick up a few phrases, and you will be surprised at how much you can learn in a few weeks!

5. SWAP CIGARETTES FOR VAPING

Many people struggle when they first give up smoking as social events, such as a night at the pub or just being round friends who smoke can often end up with them picking back up their smoking habit.

The lockdown then could be just what long term smokers need to finally get away from cigarettes, as there will be no extra temptation. As a nice bonus as well is that you can order e-cigarettes online, while trying to get cigarettes online is almost impossible these days.

Ordering e-cigarettes online will also save you money, as 1 pack of SMOKO E-Cigarette refills is only £9.99, and 1 box contains 150 cigarettes worth of nicotine! If you compare that to 1 pack of 20 cigarettes, with is easily £10, you can start to see huge amount of savings you get by making the switch to e-cigarettes.

If you use the time in lockdown to switch to vaping, not only could you be saving yourself a substantial amount financially, but you are making a positive choice for your health and wellbeing.

By making the switch you are moving to an alternative that is at least “95% less harmful than cigarettes”, but still gives you the same flavour and nicotine hit of a cigarette. You can still get the nicotine your body needs with e-cigarettes, but cut out the 4000+ chemicals and 50+ carcinogens that make up 1 cigarette.

During the lockdown, it is vital that we all ensure we are in the best health condition possible, and swapping smoking for vaping can help you achieve this. After you successfully start vaping, once lockdown restrictions have been lifted you will have a healthier body and teeth, ditched the stale smoke smell on your clothes and won't be tempted to return back to smoking.

Cigarettes have been found to cause over 14 types of cancer, can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and lead to debilitating respiratory issues like COPD and asthma.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT WHY YOU SHOULD QUIT SMOKING CIGARETTES AND SWITCH TO VAPING

WHAT ARE THE HARMFUL CHEMICALS THAT ARE FOUND IN CIGARETTES?

It is common knowledge that tobacco cigarettes are really bad for us. There are over 4,000 harmful chemicals in cigarettes and 50 known carcinogens!

Some of the chemicals include Tar, Carbon Monoxide, Arsenic, Formaldehyde, Acetone, Ammonia, Acetic Acid, Hydrogen Cyanide, Lead, DDT and Butane to name a few. No one in their right mind would put any of these chemicals into bodies!

Due to these chemicals, each time you light up a cigarette, you take 11 minutes off the end of your life! And when you smoke, everything has a stale smoke smell!

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN E-CIGARETTES AND VAPES?

The reason why medical professionals around the world suggest switching to electronic cigarettes and vapes is the lack of those chemicals found in cigarettes.

In fact, e-cigarettes only have 4 main ingredients. Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin, Flavourings and nicotine. Nicotine is the only physical reason why you smoke and there are many health advantages of nicotine.

So if you compare the amount of ingredients in a cigalike vs. tobacco cigarettes, there is a 99% difference.

WHICH IS THE BEST CIGALIKE OR VAPE TO USE?

Many adult smokers looking to quit and switch to a cigalike or vape starter kit will have a lot of choice. There are many types of e-cigarettes on the market and they do essentially the same thing. But how do you find the right vape for you?

A SMOKO Vape starter kit uses magnetic techology to hold the vape refills in place. With the SMOKO Cigalike starter kit, you simply screw the e-cig refills into the battery.

All of our vape and e-cig refills use our Made in the UK e-liquids - with the highest quality flavours and ingredients. Most disposable vape brands are made in China....
