My name is Mike and I am the co-founder for SMOKO CBD.
I was raised in Canada and spent my childhood playing ice hockey from the time I was 4 years old. If you've ever watched hockey, you will know it's one of the most physical sports around! Once I hit high school, I started playing Rugby Union as well. So between training in the gym 5 days a week, hockey and rugby training and then playing a couple of games a week, you could say I was quite active.
It was my dream to play in the NHL! Becoming a professional athlete was all I wanted to be growing up. It consumed my every waking minute!
But after 21 years of playing these extremely physical sports, the effect on my body was becoming aparent. The aches and pains seemed to last longer. The injuries seemed to take more time to recover from. So like many young men my age whose dream of becoming a professional athlete started to wane, I realised that continuing to punish my body to play these sports was not worth it.
A few years later, I threw my back out for the first time! Not playing the sports I loved but from simply lifting a box! I spent the next 3 days lying flat out on the living room floor not being able to move. After taking loads of pain killers - a cocktail of Ibuprofen, Diazepam and Codeine - I was finally able to get to a chiropracter. 6 weeks of treatments and living in a pain killer induced haze, the pain eventually went away!
Unfortunately, back injuries and lower back pain are not something that magically go away over time. Sleeping the wrong way, lifting a box or even doing light exercise could trigger the back pain again.
Over the years, I would experience a bout of severe back pain at least 4 times every year. And I would go through the same cycle of healing - the cocktail of pain killers, chiropracter and physio visits and long periods of recovery were all I could do.
Fast forward to the summer of 2020! I woke up one morning and couldn't get out of bed. The pain in my lower back was excruciating! For the next 2 weeks I couldn't sit down and couldn't get comfortable lying down. The only relief I got was standing. I was averaging 2 hours of restless sleep a night and I was taking the cocktail of pain killers 5 times a day just to get a glimmer of relief.
And then one of my friends suggested that I try a natural food supplement that many people around the world had used to get relief from thier back pain. At that stage, I was willing to try anything!
So I stopped taking the cocktail of pain killers and started taking this supplement 3 times a day. Over the next few days, the pain started to subside. I went from 2 hours of sleep a night to getting a full 8 hours! OH MY GOSH - what a relief! Within a week, I was up and moving around normally and the pain was almost 100% gone.
