Last night our creative marketing agency The Distance screened a film they made in collaboration with York-based filmmaker Paul Richardson. Do androids dream of electronic cigarettes? takes the concepts, themes and style of perennial sci fi classic Blade Runner and uses them, through a clever combination of visual effects and subtly clever script writing, to showcase SMOKO.

SMOKO Standard Starter Pack

Blade Runner lent itself as a concept to explore thanks to its themes of artificiality versus an outdated, defunct reality - and whether the past is better with its broken imperfection or whether an artificial future is where we should be focused.

Drinks

It’s not hard to see where e-cigarettes versus traditional cigarettes fitted into this vision and the final film works fabulously.

The entire project from conception to editing was the work of many people who collaborated together to use their talents and skills. We will be sharing some of their stories in future blogs over the next couple of weeks, everyone from the director to the costume designer have stories to tell.

The screening was a great night, with around 70 people arriving at a very cool cinema in York to have their first view of the film. We’re loving it and would love to know what you think. Take a look for yourself here and let us know!
